Hi, I'm Shoshana Leffler, a scientist, teacher, artist, and writer from NYC with an A.B. in chemistry from Princeton University, PhD in Developmental Genetics from NYU, and an advanced certificate in science education from Lehman College. I have taught chemistry and computer science for five years. I have tutored students independently and in groups during office hours in school. I enjoy it most when students have that 'aha' moment and a difficult concept clicks for them.
 

I had learned that one of the best ways to drive student engagement and performance is to present difficult topics using real-world examples. For example, I used case studies like Elon Musk’s quest for better batteries to explain complex oxidation-reduction reactions, making the learning process both engaging and practical. I also managed a popular cooking/chemistry club that uses culinary concepts to explain chemical reactions such as the Maillard Reaction.
 

I also have experience with math and science up to the graduate level: I was an Intel Semifinalist winner in high school, did research during my undergrad at Princeton University, and built a cerebellum math model during my PhD at NYU. My depth of knowledge helps guide student understanding.
